Eyeglasses and Sunglasses

In healthy eyes, the cornea is a clear, smooth dome that allows light rays to pass through to the retina. If the cornea is not as clear, smooth, or round as it should ideally be, or if the eyeball is too short or long, light rays can refract at different angles. This can lead to refractive errors, which are common eye problems. Eyeglasses can correct refractive errors such as myopia, hyperopia, or astigmatism. Prescription sunglasses can offer the same benefits with added protection from the sun.

Eyeglasses at Campus Eye Group

Many people enjoy improved vision through eyeglasses. At Campus Eye Group, we offer a large selection of frames, including designer frames to fit your style.

There are two main types of eyeglasses: single-vision glasses and multifocal glasses.

Single-Vision glasses

Single-vision glasses have a lens that helps you see either far away or close up. Individuals may wear glasses with single-vision lenses to address a variety of focusing issues, including myopia, hyperopia, or presbyopia.

Multifocal glasses

Multifocal glasses correct both distance and near vision in the same lens.  These lenses correct distance vision and presbyopia. Examples of multifocal lenses include bifocal lenses, trifocal lenses, progressive lenses, and computer glasses.

There is also a selection of different eyeglass lenses you can choose from, including plastic lenses, polycarbonate lenses, trivex lenses, and high-index lenses. Each of these different types of lenses has its own pros and cons, which can be discussed with your eye doctor.

Sunglasses at Campus Eye Group

Sunglasses help protect the eyes from the sun’s harmful UV rays. At Campus Eye Group, we offer sunglasses and prescription sunglasses. Prescription sunglasses have your eyeglass prescription built into the lens. At Campus Eye Group, we carry an array of stylish sunglasses to fit your individual look and lifestyle, including Ray-Ban® sunglasses.

When choosing sunglasses, there are certain factors to consider. For example, always choose sunglasses that block 99 percent of ultraviolet rays. Polarized lenses are also a great option as they cut down on reflected glare and can be useful for driving as well as some sports and activities. Furthermore, other sunglass options, such as transition lenses, can be helpful for those who spend ample time both indoors and outdoors.
